Irrigation Technician - Leighton, AL

Type of Employment: Full Time

Purpose: Responsible for the effective repair of irrigation machinery and components at high levels of quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs in-field irrigation diagnostics and repairs as required
  • Diagnoses, inspects, reconditions, repairs, assembles, and services equipment as assigned by the supervisor
  • Documents machine information and repairs completed on work order, including parts and fluids used
  • Maintains a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment
  • Identifies and communicates solutions for customer service opportunities in the dealership’s area of responsibility
  • Maintains technical and product knowledge on all systems sold within the store
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments
  • Promotes TriGreen Equipment in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions including dealer provided applications.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Mechanical and electrical skills required
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance functions on equipment
  • Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions and noisy conditions.
  • May occasionally be required to work at varying heights.
  • Demonstrated essential abilities business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Knowledge of center pivot irrigation systems, electrical service equipment, pump panels and motors, control circuitry, single & 3 phase power, 120/240, 277/480 volt systems.
  • Prior experience servicing pivot irrigation systems
  • Knowledge in the use of test equipment, volt/ohm meters, wire/fault finders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to negotiate customer complaints to a satisfactory resolution
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Proven ability to be a team player
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; tasks may include lifting, bending, squatting, standing, sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays if required
  • Available to travel
