If you’re looking at the John Deere Series 1 family of sub-compact utility tractors, you may be wondering what the difference is between the 1023E and the 1025R. Though they may be smaller in size than your standard tractor, that makes them no less capable of getting jobs done around your property. But there are a couple key differences between the 1023E and the 1025R that may help you decide which compact tractor is best suited to your needs.
John Deere 1023E vs. John Deere 1025R
The 1023E and 1025R share a number of similarities, as you might expect from tractors in the same series. Both machines are equipped with four-wheel drive and a hydrostatic transmission, in addition to Twin Touch foot pedals that make them ideal for applications where you need to change direction and speed frequently. Power steering, coupled with the four-wheel drive, assures the operator improved maneuverability. Many of the specs are standard across the Series 1 family, such as the overall dimensions, frame size, wheelbase, and tire sizes.
Both tractors are also compatible with many of the same attachments and implements. The 120R Loader is compatible with the 1023E and 1025R, which come equipped with a Limited Category 1 three-point hitch. Among the John Deere implements and attachments that would work with either tractor are the AutoConnect Deck, the Load-N-Go, and the iMatch quick hitch.
The fundamental differences between the two tractors are simple. The 1025R features a 23.9 horsepower engine compared to the 1023E’s 21.5 horsepower engine, in addition to having the advantage in Take-Off Power (17.2 horsepower, compared to 14.9 horsepower).
While both are capable machines, the 1025R offers more extra features than the 1023E. If standard cruise control, a deluxe high-back suspension seat with adjustable armrests, tilt steering, and three-point hitch position control are enough to entice you, the 1025R is the machine for you, though expect the price tag to be higher than the 1023E.
