TriGreen Equipment Joins Hands with Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association
TriGreen Equipment is excited to share it’s involvement with the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association (TCA) Second Harvest Initiative. This partnership was prominently showcased at the Tennessee Junior Beef Expo held in Lebanon, TN, from July 10 to July 12, 2025. By joining forces with TCA, TriGreen Equipment underscores its commitment to fostering the growth of local agriculture while addressing food insecurity issues within the community.
This initiative involved the purchase of three show steers, which were later processed into over 2,000 pounds of beef for donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. This effort not only provides high-quality, nutrient-rich beef to those in need but also rewards the hard work of young cattle producers in the state.
The Impact of the Second Harvest Initiative on Local Communities
The Second Harvest Initiative has made a significant impact on local communities by providing essential food resources to those in need. This year’s contribution of over 2,400 pounds of beef is a testament to the initiative’s success and far-reaching benefits. The donated beef will help nourish countless families, ensuring that they have access to high-quality protein sources.
“The Second Harvest Initiative creates a win-win opportunity for TCA,” said Melinda Hart, Director of Youth Programs and Outreach for TCA. “We are able to reward the youth exhibitors for their hard work while serving a larger purpose and supplying a nutrient-rich beef product to those in need.”
Youth in Agriculture: Encouraging the Next Generation of Cattle Producers
One of the core objectives of the Second Harvest Initiative is to support and encourage young cattle producers. By participating in events like the Tennessee Junior Beef Expo, youth involved in 4-H and FFA programs gain invaluable experience and recognition for their dedication and hard work.
This year, the initiative awarded nearly $15,000 in premiums for class and showmanship winners, as well as for skill-a-thon competitors. These awards not only recognize the efforts of these young producers but also provide them with the resources they need to continue their agricultural pursuits. TriGreen Equipment is proud to play a part in fostering the next generation of agricultural leaders.
How TriGreen Equipment and Other Industry Partners Contribute
TriGreen Equipment, alongside other industry partners, has made significant contributions to the success of the Second Harvest Initiative. This year’s support included a substantial $5,000 sponsorship, which directly contributed to the purchase of a steer exhibited by Brantley Johnston of Claiborne County, TN. Josh Miller, Store Manager of TriGreen Equipment in Columbia, TN, and his son Kasen Miller, were proud to represent the company in honoring Brantley and other cattle showmen at the Junior Beef Expo.
